    Chisinau Local Public Administration has infrastructure projects for alternative transport on its agenda

     A working group on the implementation of infrastructure projects for alternative transport has been set up by the Chisinau City Hall. The aim of the Commission is to hold and set up the public consultations and develop alternative infrastructure projects.  

    The working group will ensure the organization of extended public consultations with representatives of local stakeholders, civil society, business representatives, public figures and residents of the municipality, thereafter the information collected will be analyzed later.

    Meanwhile, the mandatory application of existing legislation on alternative transport and green infrastructure will be agreed with the central authorities and then develop proposals and draft solutions that will be suggested and scheduled for approval by the Chisinau Municipal Council.

    The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, mentioned that the local authorities, together with UNDP Moldova, within the "Green City Lab" Project, are working on the elaboration of the Urban Mobility Plan.

    The current concern in this regard is to attract expertise, identify funds and funding mechanisms, as well as strengthen the cycling community.

    The Mayor also specified that the streets and alleys, which are currently being rehabilitated, there will be paths for cyclists.

    "In the future, we intend to organize and arrange bicycle paths that will connect the city's districts. Soon we will arrange such routes on the streets: 31 August 1989,  street, Gr. Vieru, blvd, Mircea cel Batran blvd, Moscova blvd and joint roads for public transport on the streets: A. Puskin, G. Bănulescu-Bodoni blvd, A. Mateevici and Stefan cel Mare si Sfint blvd. We will also set up bicycle parking ", the Mayor concluded.

    Ion Ceban declares himself a supporter of environmental projects and intends to come to work by bicycle. He also called on the Deputy Mayors and members of the executive to do the same.
