The Municipal Education Forum "Involvement for Change" in the first edition

Chisinau City Hall informs that on Friday, January 24, 2007,  the capital hosted the Municipal Education Forum "Involvement for change",  I edition, the local public administration project  which aims to formulate policies to support the development of quality education in Chisinau municipality. 

The meeting was held as part of the celebration 24 of January, International Education Day.

The forum was opened by the General Mayor Ion Ceban, who reiterated its importance, given that the municipality determines various opportunities for the development and improvement of the educational process as a priority.

"The solutions to increase educational success can only come from a common desire to act. At the educational level, it is necessary to create a favorable climate in the educational institutions, as well as create the necessary infrastructure so that we will benefit from a high-quality, affordable, safe and inclusive educational process, " the capital's mayor emphasized.

Ion Ceban expressed confidence that the Chisinau City Hall will join the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which will then be part of the strategic priorities of the Municipal Development Plan in the education field.

"In order to become an honorable citizen, the child must be educated in a friendly environment. We aim to offer lifelong education and learning opportunities for adults as well. Through education we can create a better world and a stronger generation, "said the Mayor.

The forum with educational profile brought together over 200 participants from the public sector, academic, national and international development partners, representatives of civil society organizations.

During the official opening of the event, have spoken: the UNDP Moldova resident representative, Dima Al-Khatib; the director of the World Bank Office in the Republic of Moldova, Anna Akhalkatsi; UNICEF Moldova Deputy Country Representative, Xavier R. Sire; the Deputy General Secretary of UNESCO Moldova, Luminiţa Drumea; the executive director of the Foreign Investors Association of Moldova, Ana Groza and the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Corneliu Popovici.

Participants were involved in 3 discussion panels, with an educational theme, such as: coordinating, influencing or implementing the educational process.

It is worth mentioning that at the end of the event, a written public statement was adopted which sets out the priority directions for development and the strategic objectives for 2030, in the Chisinau educational field.
