Chisinau City Hall and the National Integrity Authority (ANI) today signed a cooperation agreement to prevent and combat the phenomenon of corruption among employees of municipal structures and entities.

The document aims to establish effective and efficient collaborative relationships between the two institutions and to provide the necessary support to Chisinau City Hall in order to implement integrity standards.

The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, said that the municipality aims to become, in a short time, the institution with maximum transparency in its activity. And the online switch, caused by the pandemic situation, has spurred the efforts of the authorities to automate certain processes, thus minimizing the human factor. "We very much accept this challenge for an ambitious work plan," said the Mayor.

In her turn, Rodica Antoci, President of the National Integrity Authority, noted that Chisinau City Hall is to establish new rules in order to strengthen the institutional capacity of the local public administration, so that employees know what are the conflicts of interest, situations of incompatibility and how to declare assets, in order to exclude cases of unjustified wealth among the Local Public Administration officials.

The cooperation of the parties will be achieved through the exchange of information and documents held by the two institutions, and where necessary, consultative working groups will be set up, which will develop the necessary framework for implementing policies and strategies to prevent and combat corruption.

The working process on the municipality's collaboration with the National Integrity Authority will be administered by Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban, responsible for the legal field.
