Signing of the Collaboration Agreement between the Chisinau City Hall and the USAID My Community Program

The City Hall of Chisinau and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the "My Community" Program, concluded on Friday, February 14, 2020, a collaboration agreement to strengthen local government and improve public services.

The aim of the document is to support local public authorities to become more efficient, transparent and accountable to the needs of citizens.

According to the agreement, the USAID "My Community" Program will provide technical assistance in the fields of multi-annual capital and financial investment planning, correlated with the approved strategic documents. In addition, the financial specialists will receive technical assistance and training to enlarge the potential for local revenue generation and use transparent planning and budgeting practices to ensure efficient financial management.

The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, mentioned that the Chisinau Local Public Administration has as a priority the digitization of the services offered to the citizens. "With the My Community program support, the Chisinau City Hall wants to implement activities that provide for the active involvement of citizens in the local government process, as well as initiatives to accelerate the process of digitization of administrative services and increase the attractiveness of tourists and investors.", underlined the Mayor.

In her turn, Dara Lipton, the interim Director of the USAID "My Community" Program, expressed her openness to work with Chisinau City Hall, noting that the agreement signed between the parties will implement innovative tools and practices that will contribute to efficiency and increase the level of transparency of the local public administration activity.

Currently, 46 communities in the Republic of Moldova benefit the assistance of the USAID "My Community" Program. The municipality of Chisinau will receive assistance under the Program for the next three years.
