The first workshop: Chisinau, Mannheim, Chernivtsi, in a joint project on COVID-19 infection control

On Wednesday, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau, Angela Cutasevici, participated in the first workshop organized within the implementation of the trilateral project "Together against COVID-19: Mannheim - Chisinau - Chernivtsi", funded by the Federal Government of Germany. The event was attended by the officials of the three cities administrations. The initiative provides for the strengthening of pandemic-induced emergency partnerships based on solidarity and exchange of experience on the challenges related to combating COVID-19 infection.

Angela Cutasevici had a presentation, where she explained the measures taken by the Chisinau Local Public Administration, from the first cases of COVID until now. These refer to the impact of coronavirus infection on the population and the opening of 6 strategic hospitals to treat patients with COVID - 19; protecting children during the pandemic by organizing the educational process online and creating the "educatieonline.md" platform, which allows distance learning. Measures have also been taken to protect medical staff: adjusting working conditions and regular testing of doctors, free food and free transport. In this context, the Deputy Mayor noted that this project will serve as a real help in the current pandemic situation. "Thanks to this initiative, local authorities will intensify actions to inform citizens, on compliance with health and distance regulations imposed by the authorities, as well as to increase stocks of medical equipment and consumables for emergency medical care," Angela Cutasevici said.

The workshop included management activities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the trilateral Collaboration Mannheim-Chisinau-Chernivtsi, the parties are seeking to raise public awareness of the need for hygiene and physical distance to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, as well as the stock endowment of the emergency medical equipment. The project will take place between September 22, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

The Cooperation Agreement between the three cities is part of the Sustainable Local Development Partnership Projects (NAKOPA) program funded by Engagement Global GmbH, the Agency for Community Services in One World (SKEW), by providing financial support from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

According to the project, Chisinau will receive 18,800 euros, funds that can be used to: develop capacity and skills in the partner community; conduct online workshops; purchase of medical equipment; information and awareness campaigns.
