Chisinau City Hall became part of the project "ArcheoDanube: Archaeological parks in urban areas as a tool for sustainable local development". A decision in this regard was approved by city councilors on Tuesday October 6th.

Thus, the implementation of the project will contribute to the recognition of the archeological parks in Chisinau as a mediating element between the archeological patrimony, the urban development and the cultural tourism.

At the same time, a basic archaeological study on the situation of the archaeological patrimony in Chisinau will be carried out within the project, as well as its position in local development policies and plans.

The municipal authority also aims to: map the archaeological sites in Chisinau and develop an interactive map of urban archeology; elaboration of the local guide for the conservation and management of the archeological sites; promoting Chisinau in a regional context; integration of the city in activities related to regional tourism; elaboration of a strategy for the implementation of archeological tourism; archaeological excavations and digital reconstructions, but also training actions, study visits, promotion and popularization of the urban archaeological patrimony.

The project will be financed 85% of EU funds, the difference being provided from the municipal budget.
