Tree planting action, in partnership with the Turkish Embassy in Chisinau, near the lake in Albisoara street

Ion Ceban, General Mayor participated today in a tree planting action, together with the Turkish Embassy in Chisinau, near the lake on Albisoara street, Rascani district,  where 120 saplings, ash and willow were planted.

The event is part of the “Breath for the Future, Breath for the World” campaign, launched by the Turkish Government at the regional level. Also took part H.E. Mr. Gürol Sökmensüer, Turkish Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Mr Ion Perju , Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment and other officials.

Ion Ceban thanked the Turkish Embassy for the tree planting initiative, which is part of the regional campaign "Breath for the Future. Breath for the World", launched  by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the second edition.

"We also have similar greening actions, because we want to return Chisinau the fame of the greenest European capital, which it was known abroad until recently," the Mayor said.

In this context, Ion Ceban specified that in September in the city began the sanitation action "Great Cleaning", which turned into a  campaign of the city greening.

The municipality's purpose this fall is to work together with central authorities (Ministry of Internal Affairs),  "Moldsilva" State Enterprise, specialists, experts, NGOs and other communities, to plant 100 thousand trees, in parks, green areas and courtyards of flats blocks,  of which more than 40 thousand have already been planted.

Also, the Mayor specified that the location was selected, near Albișoara Street, which is currently being renovated, and this project is nearing completion. Through this tree planting will be laid the foundation of the park area rehabilitation, which should become an attractive public space for Chisinau.

The Breath for the Future, Breath for the World " was launched on November 11, 2019, under the aegis of Turkey's President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is being held in 81 provinces of the country, to take care not only for the landscape and climate but also to contribute to the protection biodiversity. This year, planting actions are held simultaneously in Moldova and in 30 other friendly countries in the Danube basin.
